The Detroit Tigers avenged their Friday night loss to the Colorado Rockies with a 4-1 win on Saturday to even the series. For Detroit, it was the return of pitcher Doug Fister, who was making his first start since May 28 after coming back from the disabled list.
It had to be refreshing for not just Fister but the Tigers coaching staff to see him have such a solid performance, since he is there most logical and probable option to start on Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals. This was also Fister's first win of the season.
The Tigers scored in the first, fourth, fifth and seventh innings to spread out their run production, while the Rockies didn't score until the ninth and final inning.
