When the St. Louis Cardinals visit the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park on Tuesday, all eyes will be on the pitching matchup.
Justin Verlander (6-4) will be on the mound in Game 1 of the three-game set for Detroit. Verlander has gone 10-0 in his 11 games against National League opponents with an ERA of 2.37.
Facing him will be Lance Lynn, who is 10-2 on the season. He and the Mets' R.A. Dickey are the only two pitchers with double-digit wins. He struck out a career high 12 against the White Sox on Wednesday.
Both teams had an off-day on Monday. This allowed Detroit to move Verlander up a day in the rotation.
