On Friday night, the Detroit Tigers will open a three-game weekend set with the Pittsburgh Pirates, which will conclude the team's interleague schedule for the regular season. However, if it was up to the Tigers they would rather continue to play their National League counterparts, as the team has yet to drop an interleague set all season, registering a 10-5 record in those games.
When Detroit last played the Pirates, the Tigers outscored the team 13-7 and won two of the three games in the weekend set at Comerica Park. They will look to replicate that performance this weekend in Pittsburgh.
The projected starters for Friday night are Doug Fister for the Tigers and A.J. Burnett for the Pirates. Fister is 1-3 with a 2.68 ERA over 40.1 innings in seven starts this season, while Burnett is 7-2 with a 3.52 ERA over 69 innings in 11 starts.
