Alex Avila missed the series against the Yankees with a tight right hamstring, but it was supposedly healthy enough for him to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Cleveland Indians. It wasn't long, though, before Avila could be seen grimacing and simply not looking right. He eventually was forced out of action in the seventh inning:
Alex Avila left tonight's game after his right hamstring tightened up. He will be further evaluated. #tigers

The struggling Tigers have been dealing with a glut of nagging injuries to their roster that has not helped in their efforts to turn things around. Austin Jackson continues to be out with what was originally deemed a mild abdomen strain; Andy Dirks is on the DL with achilles tendinitis; Doug Fister is on the DL with a side strain; et al. Avila is just the latest to fall to an injury that could linger and make a turnaround awfully tough for the Tigers. We'll obviously keep you posted.
