On Friday afternoon, the Detroit Tigers outrighted the contract of catcher Omir Santos to the team's Triple-A affiliate, the Toledo Mud Hens. Santos was designated for assignment on Wednesday when the Tigers purchased the contract of Mud Hens catcher Bryan Holaday.

Santos joined the Tigers on May 30, when the club purchased his contract from Toledo after sending Ryan Raburn down to Triple-A because of his struggles at the plate. Santos' most notable moment in Detroit was when he hit a walk-off sacrifice fly on Saturday night against the New York Yankees. He went one-for-eight (.125) at the plate in three games registering one RBI while with the Tigers.
