The Detroit Tigers look to rebound on Saturday after losing the first game of their three game interleague series against the Cincinnati Reds. Friday night saw the Reds take game one 6-5. Detroit ace Justin Verlander (5-4, 2.67 ERA) will also be looking to rebound, as his last outing saw him give up five runs and issue a season-high four walks.
Bronson Arroyo (2-4, 3.91 ERA) will be on the hill for St. Louis. The Detroit offense may have a full crew for their battle with Arroyo; manager Jim Leyland hinted at Austin Jackson's return in comments to the team's official website:
"I don't have that [full bench] tonight. Hopefully, I will tomorrow," Leyland said Friday night. "But I can't swear to that."
Jackson has been with Triple-A Toledo on a rehab stint, recovering from a strained abdomen. He's hitting .331 on the year. Game two of the series is in Cincinnati, scheduled for 4:10pm EDT on Saturday.
