Jose Ortega Demoted To Make Room For Austin Jackson

After the Tigers activated center fielder Austin Jackson from the disabled list on Saturday, a corresponding move was coming. That move has been made:

Ortega made his Major League debut on Friday night in the eighth inning against the Reds. He immediately gave up a leadoff double that tied the game, recorded an out and gave up another hit before getting yanked.

Ortega had been doing well in Triple-A before getting called up, limiting opposing hitters to a mere .206 batting average over his last 10 appearances and striking out five in his latest three innings.

The Tigers now have an equal ratio of players to pitchers on their roster after having an unbalance before.
