The Detroit Tigers are going to be without pitcher Drew Smyly for a little while, as he was recently placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right intercostal strain. Luis Marte has been recalled from Toledo, according to the team.

Jacob Turner, considered to be the Tigers' top pitching prospect, is expected to start in Smyly's place on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels.
Smyly is the Tigers' only left-handed starter, so they will need him back as soon as possible, especially if they want to make the second half of the season much better than the first. They're on track to do that so far after winning their first game back from the All-Star break and adding to their winning streak, but Smyly's presence in the lineup is still important.
