Tigers Send Pitcher Luis Marte To Triple-A, Will Recall Jacob Turner For Tuesday Start

The Detroit Tigers sent 25-year-old relief pitcher Luis Marte back to Triple-A Toledo on Monday following their win over the Los Angeles Angels, clearing room for the Tuesday call-up of prized pitching prospect Jacob Turner for his spot-start on Tuesday:

Turner lasted through five innings of one-run ball in his 2012 debut back on June 21, but did end up walking five batters in the outing. The 6-foot-5 youngster is 4-2 with a 3.16 ERA in 10 starts with the Mud Hens though, and is definitely peaking right now with four of his last five starts.

Coming off an impossible-to-ignore July 7th complete game three-hit shutout, it's clear that the Tigers want to see if he can stay hot from the mound. Unfortunately for the 21-year-old hurler, he will have to face a red-hot Los Angeles lineup that includes a number of powerful bats.
