The Detroit Tigers will send prized pitching prospect Jacob Turner to the mound on Tuesday night at Comerica Park, as the team will take on the Los Angeles Angels for game two of a four-game series.
The 21-year-old Turner, making just his second start of 2012, will have to deal with the same Angels lineup that battered Detroit pitching for 11 hits in Monday's opener. Turner's previous outing this season offered plenty of promise (5.0 IP, 1 ER), but also plenty of room for improvement (5 walks) as he walked away with a no decision.
Offensively, Tigers outfielders Quintin Berry and Brennan Boesch will be looking to continue their hot starts to kick off the second half of the season. The two integral pieces of Detroit's roster are a combined .357 from the plate over their last three games. Boesch, who is in the midst of an eight-game hitting streak that has raised his average from .231 to .248, finally looks to be providing the power numbers the organization expected out of him coming out of spring training.
