The Detroit Tigers were hammered by the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night, losing by a final score of 13-0. The Angels started with seven runs off Jacob Turner in the first two innings and never looked back.
Turner lasted only two innings, giving up six hits, seven runs, and two walks while striking out one. That was a double blow for the Tigers, who were hoping to showcase the young pitcher to boost his value on the trade market. Duane Below took the mound after Turner and didn't fare much better, giving up four runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings. Los Angeles added another run in both the eighth and the ninth, but things were over long before then.
Though the game may have been a lost cause, the Tigers offense didn't show much in terms of helping out their pitchers, collecting only 4 hits on the night. The Tigers drop to 47-44 with the loss and have now split the first two games of the four game series. Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. ET.
