Tigers Vs. Twins Preview: Duane Below To Start In Max Scherzer's Place

Monday night wasn't the greatest for Detroit Tigers fans. First, they lost Game 1 of their series to the Minnesota Twins at home by a score of 6-4, keeping them below .500.

Immediately after the game, more bad news was delivered in the form of an unexpected injury update:

Scherzer earned a win in his last start Thursday against the Rays. He is 7-5 on the season. There is no word on the severity of his hamstring injury.

Below will be making his first start of the season. The lefty is 2-1 on the year in relief.

Nick Blackburn will be on the mound for Minnesota. He is 4-5 on the year with a 7.74 ERA. He gave up six earned runs in five innings in his last start, a loss against the Chicago White Sox.

The Tigers sit 3.5 games behind the White Sox in the AL Central.

First pitch will be thrown at 7:05 p.m. ET. It will be broadcast on Fox Sports Detroit.
