On Tuesday, the Detroit Tigers announced via the account of Media Relations Director Brian Britten that the club has optioned the contract of infielder Danny Worth to the club's Triple-A minor league affiliate, the Toledo Mud Hens, in order to make room for newly acquired second baseman Omar Infante.

The Tigers acquired Infante on Monday night in a trade with the Miami Marlins that included right-handed starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez in exchange for top prospects Jacob Turner, Rob Brantly and Brian Flynn.
Worth has played in 35 games with the Tigers in 2012 and recorded a .212 batting average with three RBI in 79 plate appearances.
