The Detroit Tigers need to watch out, because the Cleveland Indians are nipping at their heels again, along with the Chicago White Sox, for the coveted top spot in the AL Central. Cleveland snuck by the Tigers in game one of their series at Progressive Field thanks to a bunt in the seventh inning.
Needless to say, the Tigers can't afford to give up too many more games to the Indians if they want to keep that top spot in the Central going strong for a while. They can rebound from the loss in game two of the series on Wednesday, hopefully with some more offensive spark than what they showed in a two run performance in game one.
The pitching match up in game two will see red-hot Max Scherzer (9-5, 4.61 ERA) take on Derek Lowe (8-8, 5.04 ERA) of the Indians. Scherzer has won his last three games with the Tigers with a 2.88 ERA, one of the big reasons that the team has managed to stay up near the top since the All-Star Break despite the team's slow start to the regular season proper.
The game will be at Progressive Field at 7:05 p.m. ET.
