There will be baseball in Detroit on the Fourth of July. After downpour kept the Detroit Tigers and the Minnesota Twins off the field when the game was supposed to start at 7:05 p.m. ET, we couldn't be sure of that for a while. But now that the heavy rain has passed through, they can play some baseball.
Tuesday's game was delayed for 90 minutes. This delay has been longer and the Tigers hope that once it begins, it will be a different story than what unfolded after the last delay. The Tigers have lost their last two games.
Justin Verlander is on the mound for Detroit. He's beaten Minnesota five straight times. We'll soon find out if he can slow down the Twins offense.
Brian Duensing is on the mound for Minnesota.
