Detroit Tigers Outright Matt Young To Triple-A

On Thursday afternoon, the Detroit Tigers announced via the Twitter account of Media Relations Director Brian Britten that the club has outrighted the contract of outfielder Matt Young to the team's Triple-A minor league affiliate, the Toledo Mud Hens.

On July 3, the Tigers designated Young for assignment in order to make room on the 40-man roster for relief pitcher Darin Downs.

Young had appeared in five games with the Tigers during the 2012 season. Over the course of his 11 plate appearances this season, Young struck out nine times, was hit by a pitch once and recorded only one hit, which earned him an RBI.
