Tigers Vs. Twins: Doug Fister Hoping To Stay Hot On the Mound

The Detroit Tigers lost their fifth game in six attempts on Monday night as the Minnesota Twins picked up a 9-3 victory in the first outing of a three-game series. Detroit will send Doug Fister to the mound to turn things around on Tuesday night, but that might be easier said than done at this point.

Fister has, for some reason, struggled when facing the Twins throughout his career as he's posted a 4.36 ERA and 1-6 record against Minnesota (including losses in both of his starts at Target Field). The righty hasn't struggled against other teams as of late, however -- as he's 4-1 with a 1.79 ERA since the All-Star break, giving the Tigers some hope that their fortunes will change.

Minnesota will counter with Brian Duensing as it attempts to get on the right side of the season series, currently tied at five games apiece with Detroit enjoying a narrow 55-54 advantage in the runs scored department.
