The Baltimore Orioles ended the Detroit Tigers' four-game winning streak with a 3-2 win last night. This afternoon, they'll face Tigers pitcher Doug Fister (7-7, 3.24 ERA), who has won three straight decisions and six of his last seven overall.
Fister already has a win over Baltimore this season, giving up one run in seven innings while striking out eight on July 13. He has a 1.16 ERA in three August starts.
Baltimore's starter, Wei-Yin Chen (11-7, 3.70 ERA), started against Detroit on July 14 and had a no-decision in the Orioles' 8-6 win. He gave up one run and struck out five in six innings in that game.
Baltimore's win yesterday knocked the Tigers all the way into fourth place in the competitive American League wild-card standings. The Tigers trail Baltimore and Tampa Bay by one game and Oakland by a half game.
