Ryan Raburn made his first rehab start on Wednesday night and, luckily for the Detroit Tigers' faithful, it was a good one. It might not have been good enough to make the Tigers call up Raburn for the weekend, of course, but very few have reason to complain about the utilityman's output on Wednesday.
Raburn got the start for Triple-A Toledo in his first appearance and, as MLive notes, it went about as well as one could hope.
Raburn went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and four RBIs on Wednesday night to help Triple-A Toledo to an 8-3 victory over Columbus.
It was the first game of a rehabilitation assignment for Raburn, who has been on the disabled list since Aug. 1 with a sprained right thumb.
The article quoted above makes it sound like Raburn will likely be recalled when rosters expand at the beginning of next month as long as he's able to keep his bat working as well as it did Wednesday night.
