Tigers Vs. Angels: Max Scherzer Looks To Continue Recent Dominance, Faces Ervin Santana

Detroit Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer (13-6, 4.27 ERA) who has won three straight starts, giving up two earned runs or fewer in each outing and striking out 26 batters in 20 innings, will face Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitcher Ervin Santana (7-10, 5.46 ERA) in today's series finale at 1:05 p.m.

Santana has also pitched well lately, going 2-0 with a 3.16 ERA in four starts in August. He's faced Detroit once this season, taking a loss after giving up four runs (two earned) in six innings July 16. Scherzer beat the Angels on July 19, giving up one run and striking out nine batters in seven innings.

The Tigers rallied to win last night's game 5-3 after trailing 3-0 early. The team took the lead on an RBI-double by Jhonny Peralta in the eighth inning. The Angels won the first game of the series.
