Tigers Vs. White Sox: AL Central Is On The Line For Both Teams

The Detroit Tigers got an important win Tuesday night in Chicago against the White Sox. Two more, including one Wednesday night, and they can pull into a tie atop the AL Central.

It's there for the Tigers, and Detroit has sizzling starter Max Scherzer on the mound against White Sox starter Gavin Floyd. Scherzer (15-6) is 7-1 in his last 10 starts since July 19. He has a 2.37 ERA in those 10 starts and has struck out 88 batters.

On Sept. 1, Scherzer beat the Sox with eight shutout innings and nine strikeouts. But that game was in Detroit. In Chicago, Scherzer has lost two of his last three starts and has a 5.63 ERA.

The division-leading White Sox could use the return of slugger Adam Dunn, who hopes to take batting practice before Wednesday's game but is still dealing with pain from a strained right oblique.

Wednesday's game will be on Fox Sports Detroit and Radio 97.1 at 7:10 CT.
