Tigers Will Start Max Scherzer, Drew Smyly For Doubleheader Sunday

The Detroit Tigers have announced via Twitter their starters for both games of Sunday's doubleheader with the Minnesota Twins. Max Scherzer will take the mound for the day game, while Drew Smyly gets the call for the night.

Friday night's opener of the three-game series in Detroit was rained out. The teams are set to meet Saturday at 4:05 p.m. CT when Doug Fister (9-9, 3.65 ERA) takes the hill against Minnesota starter Samuel Deduno (6-4, 3.84).

The Tigers are still chasing the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. With 13 games left to play, Detroit trails Chicago by 1½ games. Lucky for them, the Tigers still have seven games left with the Twins. Detroit has beaten Minnesota in five of their last six meetings.
