The Detroit Tigers acquired pitcher Greg Ross from the Atlanta Braves, completing the exchange for sending outfielder Jeff Baker to Atlanta on Aug. 31 for a player to be named later.
The 23-year-old Ross has appeared in 25 games for the Single-A Rome Braves this season, starting 21 of those games and going 7-9 with a 4.60 ERA and 106 strikeouts over 131 innings. Ross will be assigned to the Advanced-A Lakeland Flying Tigers.
The Tigers sent Baker to the Braves on Aug. 31 after acquiring him from the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 5. Baker has appeared in 10 games with the Braves, going 1-for-9 with one run and an RBI.
The Tigers still have to send two players to Chicago by Oct. 31 to complete the terms of the Aug. 5 trade with the Cubs.
