Jahvid Best's timetable for a return to the field is still unknown as doctors continue to evaluate his concussion test results, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said in a report on Friday.

The availability of Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best remains uncertain, as head coach Jim Schwartz said Friday that doctors have yet to make a decision as to whether Best can return to action after he's allowed to return from the physically unable to perform list next week.

That according to a report by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

"I don't have any updates," Schwartz said in the report. "He's been through a lot of testing this week and, as far as I know, they're still going over the results. I don't know if we're going to hear anything today. It's still an ongoing process."

Best hasn't played since Oct. 16, 2011, when he sustained his second concussion, though he began workouts last December and has, according to the report, been concussion symptom-free for months. The only hurdle that remains to be jumped is clearance for contact from a panel of doctors.

"Like I said before," Schwartz added in the report, "we'll just defer to the people that know the most and wait like everybody else."
