The Chicago Bears maintained their 10-0 lead over Detroit after a scoreless second quarter.
The Bears came close to scoring, but a 47-yard Robbie Gould field goal attempt was blocked by Lions defensive end Lawrence Jackson, which left Chicago scoreless after a 12-play, 58-yard drive that lasted just less than seven minutes.
The Lions threatened by reaching the the Bears' 18-yard line with an 8-play, 54-yard drive late in the second quarter but were unable to capitalize as running back Mikel Leshoure fumbled the ball. The Bears' Julius Pepper recovered to give Chicago possession at the end of the second quarter.
Backup quarterback Jason Campbell played the final possession of the first half for the Bears as Jay Cutler went to the locker room early after being brought down by Ndamukong Suh on the previous possession. Cutler's status for the second half is unknown.
The Lions have managed just 91 yards of total offense in the first half. Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford is 8-of-15 passing for 43 yards.
