The Detroit Lions lost wide receiver Nate Burleson for the season after he suffered a broken leg against the Chicago Bears on Monday. The veteran wideout is currently third on the team with 27 receptions and 240 yards.
The Lions also lost safety Amari Spievey, who suffered a concussion. Spievey last suffered a concussion in January, during the playoffs. It took him several months to return to full health.
Heading into their Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks, the Lions hope to see the return of several players. Defensive end Ronnell Lewis was inactive on Monday night, but could be back from his eye injury as soon as this week.
The Lions could also get a boost to their secondary with the return of Jacob Lacey and Bill Bentley. Lacey is out with a concussion he suffered in Week 6. Bentley was able to practice in a limited capacity last week, despite nursing a shoulder injury.
