Louis Delmas injury: Lions safety to undergo tests on left knee on Monday

Unable to finish out his team's Week 8 win over Seattle due to injury, Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas will undergo tests on his injured left knee on Monday, according to Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press.

After missing Detroit's first four games of the year following offseason knee surgery, Delmas made his third consecutive start in the secondary on Sunday against the Seahawks. The fourth-year safety chipped in three tackles, but was removed from the field in the third quarter after apparently re-aggravating his knee injury.

One of Detroit's main vocal leaders both on the field and in the locker room, the 25-year-old Delmas continues to battle with injury problems in the early stages of his career. Though he suited up for 15 games in each of his first two years in the league, he has missed nine contests over the last two seasons due to various injuries, and appears to be slowing down. If Delmas is forced to miss more time, the Lions would likely expand the role of young safety Ricardo Silva, who recorded four tackles and an interception against Seattle.
