Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure missed practice on Wednesday to attend the birth of his son. Mikel Leshoure Jr. was born weighing 9 lbs, 8 oz. and Leshoure returned to practice on Thursday.

LeShoure has started five games for the Lions this season rushing for 305 yards and one touchdown on 76 carries. He has also added 20 receptions for 124 yards.
The Lions drafted LeShoure in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of the University of Illinois. Leshoure tore his Achilles tendon in an August practice his rookie season and missed the entire year. He was suspended the first two games of the 2012 season before making his debut against the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. Leshoure rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown in his debut; he has not rushed for 100 yards or a scored a touchdown in a game since then.
The Lions take on the Jaguars in Jacksonville at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and Leshoure is expected to start.
