Wide receiver Mike Thomas has passed his physical, meaning the trade sending him to the Lions from the Jacksonville Jaguars is now official and complete. The Lions sent a fifth round draft pick in 2014 to Jacksonville in exchange for the fourth year player out of Arizona.
The Lions are expected to use Thomas as a slot receiver, where he's played for the majority of his career. However, he may also see work as a kick returner and out of the backfield, in a similar role to that of running back Jahvid Best.
Thomas practiced with the team on Thursday, but may not have enough time to adapt to the new playbook in time to play against his old team on Sunday in Jacksonville.
Through 52 games in four seasons, Thomas has 171 receptions for 1768 yards and six touchdowns. He saw significant time as a kick returner as a rookie, but didn't take another kick until earlier this season.
