Desperate to turn their fading season around, the Detroit Lions will take the field in their annual Thanksgiving Day game on Thursday against the Houston Texans.
The Lions will attempt to end an ill-timed two-game losing streak to divisional opponents, and will now be forced to claw their way to victory against one of the NFL's best all-around teams to remain in the NFC playoff hunt. After a slow start to the season, Pro Bowl receiver Calvin Johnson has exploded for 479 yards receiving over his last three games and will once again remain the biggest offensive weapon against the Texans.
Fresh off a narrow win over the same Jacksonville Jaguars squad that was destroyed by Detroit in Week 9, the Texans currently sit in a tie with Atlanta for the NFL's best record at 9-1 overall. Even though Texans head coach Gary Kubiak was extremely complimentary of the Lions' defensive line earlier in the week, the veteran coach will undoubtedly offer up a full dose of star tailback Arian Foster to Detroit defenders on Thursday afternoon.
