Following a poor performance on Thanksgiving where he could only muster 32 yards on 12 attempts, Detroit Lions tailback Mikel Leshoure was held off the practice field with an ankle injury on Wednesday.
Leshoure was one of six Lions ruled inactive to begin the week of practices on the team's official Week 13 injury report, while as many as five others held a limited distinction. Among the names to sit out were offensive lineman Jeff Backus and defensive end Cliff Avril. While Avril has been forced to deal with both a knee and a back injury this season, the 26-year-old pass rusher has yet to miss a game due to injury.
Eager to get back on the field after his consecutive start streak was snapped on Thanksgiving Day, Lions left tackle Jeff Backus was once again held out of practice with a hamstring injury. Starting guard Rob Sims was also a limited participant on Wednesday to further complicate the team's offensive line situation heading into Week 13, although the defense did pick up a nice boost by the return of cornerback Jacob Lacey from both foot and knee issues on Wednesday.
