Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson says he's the best corner in the NFL right now, and he wants to go 1-on-1 against Calvin Johnson on Sunday to prove it.

Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson says he's the best corner in the NFL, and he's prepared to prove it in Week 15 against Calvin Johnson and the Detroit Lions. Peterson boasted to the Detroit Free Press and other Detroit media about his abilities on Wednesday, saying: "I think I am the best cornerback in the league right now." Of course, he hasn't covered the NFL's most dangerous receiver yet.

Johnson leads the NFL with 1,546 receiving yards and 30 plays that have gone for 20+ yards this year, so Peterson will have his hands full on Sunday afternoon. The cocky cornerback hopes to line up across from Megatron and go man-to-man, but he also thinks the defensive gameplan will help shut down Johnson (via the Detroit Free Press)

"Honestly, I would like to go one-on-one as much as I can," Peterson said. "But I believe we have a pretty good game plan, and I think we'll be ready for whatever those guys throw at us on Sunday."

The Lions own the No. 1 passing offense in the NFL, but they have lost five straight games. Thankfully, the Cardinals have been even more inept in 2012. Arizona has dropped nine straight contests after since a surprising 4-0 start, and even though they have the No. 5 passing defense it is important to remember that opponents have built early leads and turned to the running game to close out wins.
