Set to face one of the NFL's best teams this weekend in the Atlanta Falcons, the Detroit Lions kicked off the week without a pair of key players on both sides of the ball at Wednesday's practice.
Still unable to get back on the field due to an ankle injury, tight end Brandon Pettigrew was joined by safety Louis Delmas on the sidelines on Wednesday as inactives. As many as five other players also filled out Detroit's initial Week 16 injury report, including offensive starters Mikel Leshoure and Calvin Johnson. Both players were limited to begin the week, but should once again be on the field come Sunday to face an aggressive Falcons defense.
Already razor-thin defensively now that star tackle Nick Fairley will be out for the remainder of the season, the Lions also listed DeAndre Levy, Don Carey and Chris Houston on their first injury report of the week. Defensive backs Carey and Houston each went through a full practice despite minor injuries, while veteran linebacker DeAndre Levy participated in a limited capacity due to an ankle issue.
