Hoping to play the role of spoiler this Sunday against the Chicago Bears, the Detroit Lions listed a number of familiar faces on their initial injury report for Week 17.
One name that was not present previously, however, is that of defensive tackle Sammie Hill, who sat out on Wednesday with a toe injury. The 26-year-old tackle has played sporadically this season in defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham's extremely deep line-rotation, but has been given a chance to step up following season-ending injuries to both Corey Williams and Nick Fairley. Hill was one of four Lions players to miss practice altogether on Wednesday, joining Louis Delmas, Calvin Johnson and Brandon Pettigrew.
Though he went through a full week of practices in preparation for last Saturday's game with Atlanta, Detroit cornerback Chris Houston practiced in a limited capacity on Wednesday. Safety Don Carey was also listed on the team's injury report with a knee issue once again, but still was a full participant to open the week of practices.
