Heading into a Week 14 primetime game with the Green Bay Packers, the Detroit Lions will be forced to monitor the health of a number of pivotal defensive players on their official injury report in the coming days.
The Lions were without both Nick Fairley and Corey Williams on the practice field on Thursday, just one day after Fairley was a limited participant due to a quad injury. While the two prominent defensive tackles were the only Lions players held out of action on Thursday, they joined six other limited participants on the updated injury report.
After each sitting out the previous day with knee and ankle injuries respectively, safety Louis Delmas and cornerback Chris Houston both returned to the practice field on Thursday. The two starting defensive backs are expected to play against the Packers this weekend, and were also joined by cornerback Jacob Lacey, who missed Wednesday with an Achilles injury, in the team's defensive backfield.
A pair of vital skill-position players remain out of action for the Packers heading into Week 14 as well, as both receiver Jordy Nelson and tailback James Starks did not suit up on Thursday. Nelson was unable to finish out Green Bay's Week 13 game due to a hamstring injury, while Starks is on the mend with a knee issue.
