Michigan sophomore point guard Trey Burke was ranked as the No. 9 player in the country on CBS Sports' preseason list of the top 100 players.
Burke was one of two Michigan players to make the list. Junior Tim Hardaway Jr. was also ranked, checking in at No. 35. Burke was ranked as the second pure point guard, coming in just one spot behind Missouri point guard Phil Pressey. Burke averaged 14.8 points and 4.6 assists per game last season.
Here is what CBS Sports had to say about Burke:
Burke flirted with entering the NBA Draft after a remarkable and somewhat surprising freshman season before wisely returning to school. If he can avoid a sophomore slump, this Ohio native could lead the Wolverines to a Big Ten title.
Hardaway checked in at No. 35, with CBS pointing to his strong play down the stretch. Although he didn't shoot quite as well from three-point range, Hardaway still averaged 14.6 points per game last season. He played well down the stretch, averaging 17.0 points per game in March.
Here is CBS Sports' comment on Hardaway:
Hardaway struggled last season after a stellar freshman season, but he finished strong down the stretch and will look to capitalize on that momentum. Can score in different ways.
The Wolverines open their season Nov. 9 against Slippery Rock.
