Michigan vs. Purdue: Brennen Beyer expected to return for Wolverines

Michigan DE Brennan Beyer should be back on the field this week after missing the last two games with a knee injury.

Michigan Wolverines defensive end Brennen Beyer is expected to play against the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday, according to MLive's Nick Baumgardner.

Beyer, a sophomore, suffered a knee injury in Michigan's Week 2 victory over Air Force. He went on to miss the next two games, against Massachusetts and Notre Dame, with the injury being diagnosed as a strain.

Though Beyer is listed as the starter for this weekend's game in West Lafayette, Ind., head coach Brady Hoke told Baumgardner that Beyer will share reps with Frank Clark. Beyer has recorded two tackles so far in 2012, and accumulated 11 tackles as a freshman in 2011.

Elsewhere on the Wolverines' injury front, fullback Stephen Hopkins is expected to play this weekend after missing the last two games, while guard Ricky Barnum should also be ready to go as he recovers from a shoulder injury. News isn't so good on TE Brandon Moore, S Marvin Robinson and DL Richard Ash, all three of whom have not yet been cleared to return, despite "getting better," according to Hoke.
