Looking to grab their third straight win over Illinois, the Michigan Wolverines will officially kick off their home Big Ten football season this Saturday from The Big House in Ann Arbor.
The Wolverines rode into West Lafayette and racked up 304 yards on the ground against the Purdue Boilermakers last Saturday, and will hope to once again get the better of an Illinois team that has fallen on hard times. Listed as 21-point underdogs, the Fighting Illini have dropped four consecutive games against FBS opponents due to a combination of injuries and poor play.
Knowing that his run game is already in top form, Michigan offensive coordinator Al Borges will make every effort to get the ball in the hands of quarterback-turned-receiver Devin Gardner on Saturday. Although four of Gardner's 14 receptions this season have resulted in touchdowns, the junior has yet to produce a breakout performance through five games.
