No. 5 Michigan vs. Slippery Rock final score: Wolverines dominate in 100-62 victory

The Wolverines predictably cruised to a monster early-season victory over Division II Slippery Rock.

The Michigan Wolverines opened the regular season on Friday night by hosting the Slippery Rock Rockets, and unsurprisingly coasted to a 100-62 victory. Michigan was led by its star backcourt, with Tim Hardaway Jr. putting up 25 points and Trey Burke adding 21.

Hardaway and Burke were only two of three Wolverines to hit double-digits on Friday night, but nine other players on the team scored. As a team, the Wolverines shot 57 percent from the field as well as 12-19 from both the three-point and free throw lines. Meanwhile, they held the Rockets to 36 percent from the field and 29 percent from three.

Three Rockets scored in double-digits on the night, but those three shot just 10-35 from the field. Michigan led by 14 at the break, and poured it on in the second half to stretch the lead to 38.

The Wolverines won't be tested until Nov. 27, when they host the N.C. State Wolfpack.
