2012 bowl projections: Wolverines projected to Capital One, Spartans to Heart of Dallas

The newest set of bowl projections have the Wolverines going to Orlando for the Capital One Bowl, and Michigan State to the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

The college football landscape was shaken up this past weekend, and accordingly, the bowl projections have changed. As it currently stands, the Michigan Wolverines are projected to play in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando against the Georgia Bulldogs on Jan. 1.

Michigan still has a shot to make it to the Rose Bowl. They need to defeat Ohio State on Saturday, and hope that Iowa can knock off Nebraska. If that happens, the Wolverines will vault over the Cornhuskers, who currently hold the tiebreaker by virtue of their 23-9 head-to-head win. If all that happens, Michigan will go to the Big Ten title game, where they would face Wisconsin, with the winner going to Pasadena for Rose Bowl.

The Michigan St. Spartans are projected to go to the Heart of Dallas Bowl, where they would face the East Carolina Pirates. However, this is all contingent on the Spartans defeating Minnesota on Saturday to become bowl eligible. If they lose that game, they will miss out on a bowl for the first time since 2006.
