Michigan Wolverines junior tackle Taylor Lewan was named to the AP All-America first team. Lewan was the only Wolverine to be named an All-American.
The 6'8, 309 pound tackle had already garnered several awards for his performance this season. He was named the Big Ten's Offensive Lineman of the Year and received other All-America team honors. Lewan is considered a first-round NFL draft prospect if he decides to leave school early. Lewan has said he won't consider the decision until after the Wolverines' bowl game. Michigan plays South Carolina in the Outback Bowl at 1 p.m. ET in Tampa, Fla., on Jan. 1.
Central Michigan tackle Eric Fisher earned third-team honors and was the only other in-state player to make any of the AP All-America teams.
Alabama was the only team to place multiple players on the All-America first team with guard Chance Warmack, center Barrett Jones, linebacker C.J. Mosley and cornerback Dee Milliner.
