Early losses to eventual BCS title game competitors Alabama and Notre Dame, and a late season loss to rival Ohio St. doomed Michigan's chances of playing in a BCS title game. Despite that setback, the senior quarterback Denard Robinson and the Wolverines still find themselves playing in a New Year's Day bowl game as they take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Outback Bowl.
The Wolverines head into Tuesday's game in Tampa as 5.5-point underdogs and most experts from Yahoo! Sports, CBS Sports and Scout.com agree with Vegas. Both Pat Forde and Graham Watson from Yahoo see the Gamecocks winning, as does the staff at Scout.com, who have the Gamecocks winning 27-20. Meanwhile the panel at CBS is almost unanimous in picking South Carolina. Only Tom Fornelli has the Wolverines winning.
Kickoff for the 2013 Outback Bowl from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. It can be seen on ESPN.
