Tom Izzo To Receive Legends Of Coaching Award

After reaching six Final Fours and winning a national championship in 2000, Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo is in line for some recognition. Izzo will receive the Legends of Coaching Award at the John R. Wooden Award ceremony in 2011:

Under Izzo, the Spartans have made six Final Four appearances, including last season. He has a career record of 346-164 and has graduated 83 percent of his players who have completed their eligibility. His winning percentage of 74.5 percent in the NCAA tournament ranks third among active coaches, behind leader Mike Krzyzewski of Duke and Roy Williams of North Carolina, both former Legends of Coaching recipients.

Most recently, Izzo took the Spartans to the national championship game in 2009 and the Final Four last season. Izzo had led Michigan State to six Big Ten Conference championships, including the last two.
