MSU Fan Holds Off On Heart Surgery To Watch Game

Michigan State fan Major Hester is the definition of a diehard fan.

The 69-year-old Spartan fanatic is holding off on getting a new pacemaker because he's afraid he'll miss the Michigan-MSU showdown this Saturday.

Hester gets so into MSU football games that his friends sometimes have to ask him to leave.

They watch him during football games as he smacks the coffee table in anger, screams at coaches on TV, curses out the referees. They banish him to his bedroom, where he watches the game on a separate TV.

"I thought it was hilarious," longtime friend Ted Talbert said about Hester’s decision to postpone surgery. "But it’s kinda like a black comedy."

Hester will have his surgery next Thursday.
