Michigan State needs help to win at least a share of the Big Ten championship. But the Spartans have to hold up their end and win their final regular season game versus Penn State, as well.
So far, MSU is taking care of its own business, surging out to a 14-3 halftime lead over the Nittany Lions at State College, PA.
Edwin Baker leads the Spartans with 61 yards rushing on 12 carries, and has also run for a touchdown. Kirk Cousins has completed 9-of-12 passes for 67 yards and a score. B.J. Cunningham caught the touchdown pass, one of two catches for him thus far.
For Penn State, Evan Royster has rushed for 56 yards on eight carries. Matthew McGloin has thrown for 96 yards, but completed only 9-of-19 passes.
Michigan State needs a loss by Ohio State to win the Big Ten championship outright. But so far, the Buckeyes are doing what they can to stake a claim for a conference title, leading Michigan 24-7 at halftime in Columbus, OH.
