As speculated earlier, it looks like Michigan State could fall to ninth in the new BCS rankings. The latest BCS rankings projections from BCS Guru have Oklahoma passing both MSU and Arkansas to move up to seventh. The projections do not have the Spartans passing Arkansas, which would move MSU down to ninth in the final rankings of the 2010 season.
Here is a look at the top 15 of the projected BCS rankings:
- Oregon
- Auburn
- TCU
- Stanford
- Wisconsin
- Ohio State
- Oklahoma
- Arkansas
- Michigan State
- LSU
- Boise State
- Missouri
- Virginia Tech
- Oklahoma State
- Nevada
If this is what the rankings look like later tonight when they are released on ESPN, Wisconsin will be headed to the Rose Bowl to play TCU. Ohio State and Michigan State would both be in contention for an at-large bid to the Sugar Bowl, but all signs point to the Buckeyes being chosen to face the Arkansas Razorbacks. Because Wisconsin and OSU would give the Big Ten two spots in the BCS, the Spartans would be left out of the picture. MSU would be headed to Orlando for the Capital One Bowl, where it could play Alabama.
