New York, NY – Rick Jackson dominated down low with 17 points and 16 rebounds, and No. 8 Syracuse led nearly wire-to-wire in a 72-58 victory over No. 7 Michigan State as part of the Jimmy V Classic.
Jackson fell one rebound shy of the tournament record for the Orange (9-0), who proved they belong among the nation’s elite in their first game against a ranked opponent. Scoop Jardine added a game-high 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while Kris Joseph contributed 14 points in the victory.
Durrell Summers scored 18 points for the Spartans (6-3), who have split their last six games, with losses against Top-10 teams Connecticut and Duke. Korie Lucious had 10 points in defeat for Michigan State.
