Blake Treadwell, Tyler Hoover To Redshirt For Michigan State Football

The Michigan State Spartans made some long-term adjustments on Wednesday afternoon that should help out the football program in the long run. Head coach Mark Dantonio announced that both Blake Treadwell and Tyler Hoover will be redshirted for the remainder of the season, granting them an extra season of athletic eligibility in East Lansing.

Treadwell, a junior, started the first three games of the season at center before suffering a knee injury. Hoover will need to apply for a sixth year of eligibility because he already redshirted his first season as a Spartan, but the defensive end hasn't fully recovered from injuries sustained in the season opener against Youngstown State.

"I think they could have come back for maybe the last three games," Dantonio said at his weekly news conference according to the Detroit News. "But I think to have them another year is going to be important."

One other roster move Dantonio announced was that freshman long snapper Matt Giampapa will likely go on scholarship next semester, according to the News' Matt Charboneau.
