College Football BCS Rankings: Michigan State Stays At No. 17, Michigan Falls

The latest BCS rankings are in and the Michigan State Spartans are in the same spot as last week even after they received a huge boost for their Rose Bowl aspirations this weekend. Legends Division contenders Nebraska and Michigan were both upset, virtually clearing a path for the Spartans to the first Big Ten championship game. The Spartans control their own destiny for a BCS berth despite being at the No. 17 spot in the standings. They will visit Iowa this coming week in a critical game within the division.

Michigan's loss on the road at Iowa saw the Wolverines drop from No. 15 to No. 24. Michigan will visit Illinois this week, needing a victory to stay alive in the Legends Division race.

Of note is Alabama, which only fell one spot with their 9-6 overtime loss at home to No. 1 LSU.
