Coach Tom Izzo has had to spend most of this season digging his Michigan State basketball team out from failing to live up to preseason expectations. So why not dig some stranded motorists out of the snow while he's at it?
↵On the way to work Monday morning after seven inches of snow dropped on East Lansing, Izzo noticed a woman whose car was stuck at the end of a driveway. Initially, the coach thought about moving on and getting to work, but then stopped himself.
↵↵↵↵So he said to himself: "God, I gotta be a better human being, 'cause I’m always on my guys about being a better teammate."
↵
Izzo then backed up and helped the woman push her car out of the snow. But it didn't happen smoothly. Izzo had to coach the woman through the situation.
↵↵↵"I’m looking at the tires, and they aren’t spinning," he said. "She had it in neutral. I said, ‘You gotta put it in gear.’"

Tom Izzo: Always coaching. Now he just has to get those Spartans back in gear. MSU follows up its big home win over Illinois on Saturday by traveling to Minnesota to face the Golden Gophers Tuesday night.
